Black Lips - 200 Million Thousand

Black Lips have been under fire of late due to their corporate sponsorship tour with Honda. I wont voice my opinion on this matter, but I will share some songs from their soon to be released album "200 Million Thousand."

There was a decent cover story about the Black Lips and "200 Million Thousand" in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution.

You can catch the Lips in Atl at Variety Playhouse on Feb. 27th.

Flower-punk drama or aside, I like what I've heard:

The Greatest Show That Never Was

Last night I made the mistake of waiting until the last minute to (not) buy tickets for the Dr. Dog show @ Tasty World.

Who knew such a huge, national act would sell out a such a small, intimate venue?

Chalk it up as another Valentine's Day heartbreak.

Shameless Plug: MPChance

Well its Monday. And we all know what that means. The weekend is over. Time to get back into the daily grind.

Here is a song from an artist I know and love by the name of MPChance. Is it a coincidence that his name shares the very same initials and last name as mine? You'll just have to listen and find out for yourself.

Show Recap: Romanenko @ Caledonia

Last night at Caledonia I had the pleasure of being introduced to Romanenko, a "Local band influenced by everything from folk standards and classic country to riot grrrl and 70s pop. Romanenko has been compared to everyone from Elliott Smith and Paul Simon to Liz Phair and Luscious Jackson" (Flagpole).

My friend was a little eager to see them play so we were happily surprised when we got to Caledonia early and they were unloading their stuff. Naturally, I had to seize the moment and lend a hand to Athens' next big thing.

Their myspace lists their influences to include Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Breeders, Johnny Cash, and Fleetwood Mac.

Hit them up Feb. 16th and Mar. 10th @ Caledonia or Mar. 20th @ Flicker.
